October 17th, 2017

Dallas, Texas – The Southern Texas PGA captured the inaugural Levy Cup Matches by an overall point total of 14 to 10. The Matches were tied following the first day of competition, with the Northern Texas and Southern Texas Sections both earning six points apiece, but the STPGA team secured early key Singles matches today for the victory.  It was Troy Schleicher, PGA teaching professional at Lake Windcrest Golf Club, whose match clinched the cup. Schleicher bested Robert McMillan, PGA director of instruction at McMillan Golf Academy. His 2&1 victory gave the STPGA team the 13th point they needed to claim the first cup.

“We have had a lot of fun these last few days. The South Texas and the North Texas have such a great relationship," said Mr. Paul Levy during the awards ceremony. "It really was kind of surreal, you know seeing your name up there. I never got involved in the PGA to have a cup match or to have something come back. I thank you all."
