Condolences

The Northern Texas PGA is deeply saddened by the passing of PGA Member Wilber Anderson. Mr. Anderson had been a member of the PGA for over forty years and will be greatly missed by the golf community.

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

PGA Unveils New Logo

The PGA of America unveiled it's new PGA logos at the 91st PGA Annual Meeting last week. The new identity is rooted in the revised brand strategy articulated as "Experts in the Game and Business of Golf." This change signals a new chapter in The PGA of America's history, leading towards its 2016 centennial anniversary. The PGA of America’s updated brand strategy brings a renewed focus on its membership, employers, and the golfing public, and their dedication to preserving golf’s heritage while increasing its popularity and awareness.

40th NTPGA Annual Meeting Presented by Callaway Golf

The Northern Texas PGA will celebrate its 40th anniversary during the 2008 Annual Meeting, which is scheduled for Sunday, February 10 - Monday, February 11 at the Four Seasons Resort and Club in Irving.  The event itinerary follows:

Sunday, February 10
6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. - Cocktail reception
6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – President’s Dinner and Awards Banquet

Monday, February 11
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm. – Education Seminar, Featuring:

FINA/NTPGA Senior Associates' Tour Schedule Announced

The FINA/NTPGA Senior Associates' Tour will kick off the 2008 season with its first event at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club (Hills) in McKinney, Texas on March 10-11. Congratulations to Heather Ruhe who recently completed the requirements for PGA Certification in General Management and PGA Certification in Instruction, and to Johnny Williams who also completed the requirements for PGA Certification in Instruction as well as the PGA Certification in Retail. Only a small group of PGA members - less than one percent of the entire membership - have earned these certifications. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the PGA!

New MSR Reporting Form Available

The new MSR Reporting Form is has been developed for members to submit MSR activities which require Section approval. For a copy of the new MSR Reporting Form, please log on to www.pgalinks.com. You may also find a copy of the form on the home page of Section website at www.ntpga.com.

NTPGA Webinar #1 - Take Your Website to the Next Level

The NTPGA Webinar #1-Take Your Website to the Next Level will be conducted on Thursday, January 31 at 3:00 p.m. This 2- hour Webinar will focus on some of the latest website and internet tools to help you generate more revenue, loyalty, and make your site work for you. Attendees will receive 2 MSR points.

The Complete Game Featuring PGA Instructors Jim Hardy, Stan Utley and David Cook

The Complete Game is a golf summit designed to focus on all aspects of the game of golf—the swing, short game and mental approach. This half-day event features instruction from PGA of America’s 2007 Teacher of the Year and Golf Digest’s “Top 10” swing coach Jim Hardy, “Top 10” short game expert Stan Utley and “Top 10” mental game consultant Dr. David Cook. The morning will conclude with a live interview of each of our featured guests by former PGA touring pro Mike Brisky. Their stories will encourage you, and their secrets will work for you too. Whether you play professionally or just on the weekend, this seminar is sure to challenge and refine your game!

NTPGA Financial Assistance Scholarship Fund Program

Scholarship application for the NTPGA Financial Assistance Scholarship Fund Program is now available on the Foundation website (http://juniorgolf.ntpga.org). Applicants must be a 2008 member, a past member currently in college, or a child, grandchild, step-child, or adopted child of a PGA Member in good standing. The application deadline is Friday, March 14, 2008. Please contact Carolyne Wood at (214) 420-7421 or cwood@ntpga.com with any questions.

PGA Financial Assistance Scholarship Fund Program

The PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship Program was established in 1986 to provide college scholarships for children and grandchildren of PGA members. Since its inception, this program has awarded about $3.2 million in scholarships to over 1,800 students.

Applications are now available on the homepage of www.pgalinks.com and will be up through March 1, 2008 . Be prepared to enter the student’s Social Security number and the PGA affiliated parent or grandparent’s PGA ID number to gain access to the application. Please note that the application must be completed in one session.
