Henderson Claims His Third E-Z-GO Eastern Championship victory

Michael Henderson found himself in a tie for first place at 2-under par with Bruce Smith, assistant golf professional at Stonebriar Counrty Club and Perrry Arthur, teaching professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course after the completion of the final round of the Championship. Henderson, head golf professional at Stevens Park Golf Course birdied his first playoff hole to capture his third E-Z-GO Eastern Championship title in the last four years. Henderson was only one shot behind overnight leader Travis Johns, assistant golf professional at Preston Trail Golf Club. A 1-under par round of 71 (36-35) was good enough to get him into the playoff. Henderson also captured the Championship in 2005 and 2006.
This 36-hole NTPGA major championship is the first of four individual stroke play events that comprise the Cleveland Golf / Club Car NTPGA Player of the Year Points Challenge, and serves as a qualifier for the 2008 Texas Joe Black Cup and James P. Jordan Cup teams. The E-Z-GO Eastern Championship featured a field of 100 NTPGA Members and Apprentices competing at Sherrill Park Golf Course (#1) in Richardson.
The golf professionals competed for a share of the $31,500.00 purse with the champion taking home $4,100.00 for first place. The E-Z-GO Eastern Championship was presented by Bridgestone Golf, Byron Nelson Apparel, Gill Barnett Golf, Heritage Creations, Pepsi-Cola and Pukka Headwear.
Abe Hernandez and Royal Oaks Country Club raised $26,386 over the Memorial Day weekend through their Patriot Golf Day fundraising initiative.
On Monday, May 26th Memorial Day, Royal Oaks Country Club asked each golfer to rent a golf cart. In turn, Royal Oaks donated $5.00 of every cart fee collected as well as cash donations to the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Stonebridge Ranch CC team wins McGladrey Section Team Championship
PGA Professional Joe Menton of McKinney, Texas teamed with James Freed, Mickey Freed and Eric Kelley, representing Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas, to post a 15-under-par total on Monday, May 19, winning the Northern Texas PGA Section Team Championship at Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie, Texas earning a berth in The 2008 PGA McGladrey National Team Championship.
The Stonebridge Ranch Country Club (Dye Course) won by a one stroke margin and will compete among a 41-team field Oct. 20-22, in the National Championship at Pinehurst (N.C.) Resort.
The team of Rick Woodson and amateurs Kirk Guthrie, Robert Wiley and Terry Kane finished runner-up at 130, and James Williams Jr., Jim Bowen, Billy Meyer and Jim Denton were third at 134. There were nine teams in the Section Team Championship field.
Conducted by The PGA of America, The PGA McGladrey Team Championship is the first grass-roots amateur best-ball championship managed by The PGA of America. PGA Professionals and amateurs compete for a minimum combined purse of $15,000 at each Section Team Championship and $200,000 at the National Team Championship. Amateurs' purse compensation will be in the form of gift certificates.
The 164-player National Team Championship field will compete on three of Pinehurst's premier layouts, Nos., 2, 4 and 8.
