DALLAS, TX - The Northern Texas PGA is pleased to announce that Stuart Deane, PGA director of golf at The University of Texas at Arlington, has captured the 2018 Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Player of the Year Award presented by Adventures In Golf. This is Deane's fifth time winning Player of the Year honors.

Deane accumulated a 381.1-point total to capture the Player of the Year title by a 42.1-point margin over Greg Gregory, PGA assistant professional at Hidden Creek Golf Course.

Deane's year included a victory at the Joyce Crane / Veritex Bank Section Championship, a T2 finish at the Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship, a T5 finish at the Prize Possessions Eastern Championship and a T14 finish at the TPx Communications Western Championship.

The Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf is a season-long competition that rewards the top finishers in the four major individual stroke play events. The four events are the TPx Communications Western Championship, Prize Possessions Eastern Championship, NTPGA Professional Championship and the Joyce Crane / Veritex Bank Section Championship. The top 32 finishers of the Player of the Year Points Challenge receive invitations into the Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Match Play Championship slated for October 8-10 at River Crest Country Club in Fort Worth.

Deane also won the 2018 Ben Hogan / NTPGA Stroke Play Average Award with a stroke average of 69.13 for eight rounds.  The Ben Hogan / NTPGA Stroke Play Scoring Average Award is presented to the Section member compiling the lowest overall adjusted scoring average in the Open Division for the Western Championship, Eastern Championship, NTPGA Professional Championship and Section Championship (minimum of six rounds to be eligible for award). Deane shot six sub-par rounds in the four individual majors carding one eagle and 40 birdies. Deane is no stranger to winning this award. His previous wins came in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015.

Also with the 2018 season wrapping up, Stuart Hendley, PGA director of instruction at Dallas Athletic Club, secured the 2018 OMEGA / XXIO Senior Points Challenge Award after his Senior Division victory at the Joyce Crane / Veritex Bank Section Championship.  This marks Hendley’s second time winning this honor after sharing the title last year.  He amassed 380 points to become this season’s champion.
