PROSPER, Texas (June 24) – Blake Bergeron, associate at Gentle Creek Country Club and Austin Randall (a) swoop in with the home course advantage to grab the playoff win at the 1st & 10th Tee Golf Energy Bar Pro-Junior Championship.

Bergeron and Randall (a) fired a round of 32-31–63, to finish at 9-under-par. They tied with the team of Travis Jones, associate at The First Tee of Fort Worth and Zak Mosher (a).

The two teams went to a playoff that lasted two holes, playing the par-5, 18th hole both times. Both teams made par the first time. The second time, Bergeron reached the green in two, and tapped in for a birdie to secure the win for his team.

Randall (a) on how it felt to win today: “Good, we played well, worked well as a team. Blake got off to a hot start, really got us going, I think 3-under through 6, so that was fun to watch. I ended up playing pretty well myself, so I enjoyed it and I’m glad we got to win.”

Before the pair signed up for the Championship Randall (a) asked Bergeron if they could partner together due to their pre-existing friendship and ability to work well together.

This year’s Championship featured 64 teams consisting of one PGA professional and one junior golfer between the ages of 7-19. The teams competed in a Four-Ball Stroke Play format.

There was also a second division within the Championship where PGA professionals and their children competed for a separate title. The 11-team division was claimed by Jon Antunes, PGA director of instruction at Heart of Texas Golf Academy and his daughter Hannah Antunes (a) with a score of 32-35–67, 5-under-par.

For the professionals in the field today there was a skins game with a $5,000 payout. Travis Jones claimed one of four skins after making a hole-in-one on the 157 yard, 11th hole. Also earning skins were Todd Rossetti, associate at Luna Vista Golf Course, Thomas Devanna, PGA head professional at Tangle Ridge Golf Club and Drew Hilton, associate at PGA of America. Each professional earned $1,250.

The 1st & 10th Tee Golf Energy Bar Pro-Junior Championship was presented by the PGA TOUR, SwingJuice and THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.
