Steven Clements • June 16, 2021

Wichita Falls, Texas - Brandon Bingaman, PGA assistant professional at Bent Tree Country Club fired a 5-under-par, bogey free 66 in the final round to claim the TPx Communications Western Championship hosted at the Wichita Falls Country Club. Bingaman finished the two-day, 36-hole championship at 7-under-par, shooting 69-66-135 total.

Bingaman said his short game was the best part of his game today, allowing him to stay out of trouble.

“I didn't make any mistakes,” he said. “Only one bogey yesterday, bogey-free today. I got a couple of longer putts to go early, so that got me off to a good start.”

Bingaman took home a $3,200 check for his victory.

J.J. Killeen, PGA director of instruction at 4ORE! Golf in Lubbock and Adam Headley, PGA head professional at Green Tree Country Club finished in a tie for second place at 5-under-par.

Killeen and Headley both signed final round cards of 3-under-par 68 and finished the championship with rounds of 69-68-137, respectively.

Finishing in a tie for fourth at 4-under-par were Jeffrey Barton, PGA director of instruction at Preston Trail Golf Club and Stetson McMillan, teaching professional at John Sikes Golf Academy.

The Championship included a Senior Division comprised of 34 professionals aged 50 or older who competed for a separate $11,500 purse and played at a modified yardage. Stuart Hendley, PGA director of instruction at Dallas Athletic Club concluded his play at 3-under-par to finish the Championship at 139 and capture the Senior Division title. Hendley now has an incredible nine Senior Division individual major championship wins with the Section. He took home a check for $1,350.

The TPx Communications Western Championship was presented by AT&T Byron Nelson, Bridgestone Golf, GT Golf Supplies, PGA TOUR and TurfHound, Inc. The Championship was conducted at Wichita Falls Country Club, a 6,884-yards, par 71 layout. The 120-player field was comprised of golf professionals from the Northern Texas Section of the PGA of America who were competing for a Western Championship record overall purse of $40,000.
