DALLAS, TX - The Northern Texas PGA is pleased to announce that Matt Lohmeyer , PGA teaching professional at GolfTEC - Montgomery Plaza, has captured the 2019 Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Player of the Year Award presented by Adventures In Golf and Green Garden Gold.

Lohmeyer accumulated a 367.50-point total to claim the 2019 Player of the Year title by a 41-point margin over Josh Havard , PGA head professional at Rolling Hills Country Club. Lohmeyer's year included a 7th place finish at the Prize Possessions Eastern Championship, T9 at the TPx Communications Western Championship, a victory at the Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship and T4 at the Joyce Crane / Veritex Bank Section Championship.

The Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf & Green Garden Gold is a season-long competition that rewards the top finishers in the four major individual stroke play events. The four events are the Prize Possessions Eastern Championship, TPx Communications Western Championship, NTPGA Professional Championship and the Joyce Crane / Veritex Bank Section Championship. The top 32 finishers of the Player of the Year Points Challenge receive invitations into the Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Match Play Championship slated for October 14-16 at River Crest Country Club in Fort Worth.

For the first time, the NTPGA had a tie for the Ben Hogan / NTPGA Stroke Play Average Award. Lohmeyer and Cameron Doan , PGA head professional at Preston Trail Golf Club, shared an average of 70.25 strokes for eight rounds. The Ben Hogan / NTPGA Stroke Play Scoring Average Award is presented to the Section member compiling the lowest overall adjusted scoring average in the Open Division for the Eastern Championship, Western Championship, NTPGA Professional Championship and Section Championship (minimum of six rounds to be eligible for award). While this is Lohmeyer’s first time claiming the title, Doan is no stranger; he captured the title in 2008.

Also with the 2019 season wrapping up, Stuart Hendley , PGA director of instruction at Dallas Athletic Club, secured the 2019 OMEGA / XXIO Senior Points Challenge Award after his Senior Division victory at the Joyce Crane / Veritex Bank Section Championship. This marks Hendley's third time winning this honor after claiming the title the past two years. He amassed 297.50 points to become this season's winner.

In February of 2018, the PGA of America announced the creation of the Women’s PGA Cup, an international team competition consisting of five female PGA Members per team. One of the goals when creating this competition was to help increase women’s participation in Section events.

Beginning in 2019, the PGA of America will also present the Woman PGA Professional Player of the Year Award, along with the long established PGA Professional and Senior PGA Professional Player of the Year Awards. A key component of the points system for making the Women’s PGA Cup Team and earning a Woman PGA Professional Player of the Year Award is identifying each Section’s Woman Player of the Year.

In June, the NTPGA Board of Directors voted unanimously to create the Northern Texas PGA Woman Player of the Year Award that will be presented to the female Member accumulating the most points in these Section events: Section Championship, NTPGA Professional Championship, Eastern Championship and Western Championship.

The Northern Texas PGA is proud to announce that the first-ever NTPGA Woman Player of the year is Trish Holt , PGA assistant professional at Stonebriar Country Club. She finished T18 at the Prize Possessions Eastern Championship, T39 at the TPx Communications Western Championship, T61 at the Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship and T19 in the Joyce Crane / Veritex Bank Section Championship. She managed to accumulate 111 points, a 25.5-point margin over Julie Wells , PGA director of instruction at Cedar Creek Country Club.

Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you for a great season!

LEWISVILLE, Texas (September 16) – Adam Headley, PGA head professional at Green Tree Country Club captured the Joyce Crane | Veritex Bank Section Championship after a 6-under-par final round. His bogey-free 34-32–66 and a first round 69, got him to 9-under-par for the Championship and a one stroke victory. It also earned Headley an exemption into the 2026 THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson. Headley was playing in the third to last group and began the final round three strokes behind the leaders. He quickly fell further behind the lead after starting with three pars, until a birdie at the par-5 4th hole got things going. On the back nine it was a battle between Headley and Brian Norman, PGA instructor at Lakewood Country Club. Headley eagled the 12th hole and added two more birdies on 15 and 18 to close and post 9-under-par. “My goal today was to play the par fives 4-under. I accomplished that,” said Headley. “I don’t like to look at the leaderboard, but I looked at it going into 18 tee and had a feeling I was sitting pretty good there.” “Honestly I didn’t think I'd ever win one. Not because I'm not a good player but because we have so many good players in the Section. If I had to choose any tournament to win, it would be this one.” Headley earned $9,250 along with his exemption into THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson. “I’ve been a golf pro for almost 20 years and now to be playing in a PGA TOUR event, I don’t care how I do, It’s going to be a blast. I’m super excited about it, it’s a dream come true.”
