Rios (a) Claims Low Amateur Honors

GRAPEVINE, Texas (May 29, 2026) – Sera Hasegawa of Waco, TX, and who currently resides in Japan, is the 2026 Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open Champion. After carding an impressive final round low score of 8-under-par, 64, her great round put her into a sudden-death playoff with three others and came out victorious after making back-to-back birdies on the 18th hole. She bested defending champion Sadie Englemann, Abbey Daniel and Katie Lu. All four competitors finished the tournament at 14-under-par.

Hasegawa started her round with three straight birdies and an additional three before making the turn. She made bogey on hole #10, her only one of the day, before making three additional birdies coming in.

Her Championship rounds were 66-72-64–202, 14-under-par, giving Sera her first professional win and etching her name in Texas Women’s Open history.

“In Japan, we don't have this kind of tournament, so that's the reason I'm here. I really appreciate all of your support. I enjoy the play here,” Hasegawa said. “I didn't even set a goal today. I just felt like, okay, one shot, one moment, like that's it.”

Sadie Englemann, defending champion, unfortunately, saw her four-stroke lead diminish after an up-and-down round where she finished at 1-under. It was still enough to get her into the playoff, but after missing her birdie putt on the first hole of the playoff, her aspiration of going back-to-back fell just a bit short.

With her victory today, Hasegawa earned $13,250, a crystal trophy, a pair of custom-painted boots courtesy of RTown Art Gallery, and an exemption into the Epson Tour’s Island Resort Championship in late June.

Thanks to the partnership between the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour and the Northern Texas PGA, the exemptions were made possible. Katie Lu of Aiken, SC, who was the runner-up in the playoff, also earned an Epson Tour exemption today.

Lauren Rios (a) of Coppell, TX, was awarded the Championship’s low amateur honor. She carded rounds of 73-68-67–208, 8-under-par, and finished in a tie for 12th place. This is the third year in a row that she has played in the Championship. She will be a fifth year at UTSA this coming semester.

When asked about her rounds and the low amateur honor, Lauren stated, “It feels amazing, honestly, my only goal here was to make the cut with all the pros in it, so this is just amazing. My putter was on fire, so that really helped. But I'm glad I just kept it together to finish strong.”

Two college scholarships were awarded today after play to two Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour members. Audrey McCallum of Grapevine, TX, was awarded the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open Scholarship totaling $5,000, and Alicia Bellendir of Coppell, TX, was awarded the $2,500 ANNIKA Foundation scholarship.

Thanks to Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau and ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT) for their support of the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open. This Championship is an official points and money list event on the WAPT schedule.

The Championship will return to Grapevine Golf Course June 2-4, 2027.

GRAPEVINE, Texas (May 28, 2026) – Carding a 7-under-par second round 65, defending champion Sadie Englemann of Austin, TX, takes a four-stroke lead into the final round of the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open. Englemann fired a bogey-free second round of 32-33–65, and sits at 13-under-par for the Championship. Last year, Englemann was looking for her first professional win. This year, she has the experience of a past champion and said, “Going into tomorrow, it’s not let’s try to get the first win. Let’s put my foot on the pedal and not get protective.” Through 36 holes, Englemann has not made a bogey. “If one comes tomorrow, it’s whatever, but it’s been a big key this week. Birdies are firing from everyone, so if you can keep from going backwards, it’s pretty important.” Sadie, a two-time champion with Stanford, closed with, “It was nice to watch my Cardinal win the national championship last night, so shout out to them.” A four-way tie for second at 9-under-par includes Abbey Daniel of West Point, MS, Samantha Vodry of Sherman, TX, and Katie Lu of Aiken, SC. Alicia Bellendir (a) leads the amateur division at 4-under-par after carding a second round of 34-36–70. Bellendir leads her sister, Elizabeth Bellendir (a) and Lauren Rios (a) by one stroke ahead of the final round. Alicia stated, “Most sisters don’t root for each other like we do. We both want each other to win. I especially want her to play well with recruiting coming up.” Elizabeth added, “We’re really close. We always practice together, so it’s super cool to be where we’re at.” Rios, a native of Coppell, TX, just finished her senior year at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She finished with All-Conference honors and a top ten finish at the American Conference Championships. She will return to UTSA next year for her final year of eligibility. There are seven players within five shots of the lead looking to surpass Englemann on Friday. Fifty players, including eight amateurs, survived the cut at even par and will play in tomorrow’s final round. The final round will begin tomorrow at 8 a.m. on the #1 tee. The final grouping will start at 10:51 a.m. The field is competing for a $80,000 Championship purse with the champion earning $13,250 for their victory on Friday. The top two finishers will earn exemptions into the Epson Tour’s Island Resort Championship. A $2,500 ANNIKA Foundation college scholarship will be awarded to a female NTPGA junior golfer tomorrow. That scholarship and a $5,000 Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open scholarship will be awarded at tomorrow afternoon’s awards ceremony. It will begin at approximately 3:45 p.m. Grapevine Golf Course (Pecan/Mockingbird) Par: 36-36–72 Yardage: 6,333 yards View the full leaderboard HERE View photos HERE View final round starting times HERE

GRAPEVINE, Texas (May 27, 2026) – Samantha Vodry of Sherman, TX, leads after round one of the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open. Vodry fired a bogey-free, 8-under-par round of 33-31–64 and holds a two-stroke lead over three players that include defending champion Sadie Englemann, Angela Stanford, and Sera Hasegawa. Vodry made six birdies in a row spanning from her fifth to tenth hole. She started her round today on hole 10. When asked about this stretch, Vodry said, “I was just making a lot of long putts. I was giving myself a lot of opportunities with the approach shots, and then my line was dialed with speed. Got lucky on a couple, but it was really fun.” This is Vodry’s sixth time playing in the Championship, with last year’s seventh-place finish being her best result. She also has a top 10 finish on the Epson Tour this year. Her mindset for tomorrow is, “stick to the plan, just hit fairways, hope the irons are dialed, and make some more putts like I did today.” 2026 Team USA Solheim Cup captain Angela Stanford carded a 33-33–66 to finish at 6-under-par. Stanford, a Fort Worth, TX, native and former Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour member, is playing in the Championship for the fourth straight year. Defending champion Sadie Englemann finished at 6-under-par after her bogey-free, 32-34–66. Englemann has her sights set on a repeat and has put herself in a good position to make a run. Rounding out those tied for second, recent Baylor alum Sera Hasegawa of Waco, TX, shot 34-32–66. This is Hasegawa’s first appearance in the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open. Round two will begin tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. with tee times beginning on the #1 and #10 tees. After the conclusion of round two, the field will be cut to the low 50 players and ties. The field is competing for an $80,000 Championship purse with the champion earning $13,000 for their victory on Friday. The top two finishers will earn exemptions into the Epson Tour’s Island Resort Championship.
