Hendley Tops the Seniors and Dillard/Moscovic Advance at the Yamaha Golf-Car Company | Srixon / Cleveland Golf / Asics Match Play Championship

FORT WORTH, TX – The No.1 seed Stuart Hendley, PGA director of instruction at Dallas Athletic Club claimed the Senior Division title at the Yamaha Golf-Car Company | Srixon / Cleveland Golf / Asics Match Play Championship after winning 3&2.

Hendley never finished outside the top five this year during stroke play events, but was not able to capture a win until today at River Crest Country Club. “I’ve been close all year, I haven't done anything really well this year and I haven’t done anything really poorly. It’s nice to get a win,” said Hendley. With his victory over No.3 seed Rick Woodson, PGA instructor at Sherrill Park Golf Course, Hendley has now won four Match Play titles in the Senior Division.

Speaking on his now four match play championship titles Hendley said, “It’s funny, I’ve never enjoyed match play as much as stroke play. To me it’s way more stressful.” Hendley earned $4,000 for his victory today.

In the Open Division two professionals punched their ticket to this year’s Duel in the Desert at Lajitas Golf Resort’s Black Jack’s Crossing. No. 6 seed Spencer Dillard, PGA assistant professional at Preston Trail Golf Club and No. 21 seed Chad Moscovic, PGA director of golf park programming for the Northern Texas PGA will square off in the 36-hole championship match on December 11-12. The two will compete for a $10,000 prize for the champion and $5,000 for the runner-up.

Both Dillard’s and Moscovic’s quarterfinal matches went to the 18th hole this morning, where they were both able to birdie and win 1up. In the afternoon Dillard faced No. 2 seed JJ Killeen, PGA director of golf at Red Feather Golf and Social Club. He started steady with seven straight pars, before making three birdies in the next seven holes and ending the match on the 14th green with a 5&4 victory.

“I’m proud of myself,” said Dillard.”I was able to be pretty aggressive and hit a lot of drivers and this afternoon my putting carried me into my win.”

Heading into this week Moscovic was under the radar as the No. 21 seed, but he steadily worked his way through the bracket. After winning his first three matches 1up, he broke his semifinal  match open to win 4&3.

When asked about advancing to the Duel In the Desert Moscovic said he is, “a little shocked, but excited to go play more. It wasn't my best year obviously, but I went in with the attitude of bonus golf and nothing to lose.”

What will make the final match more special for the two professionals is that the pair have known each other since Dillard was in high school. “I’ve known Spencer since he was in high school when he was practicing at Eldorado Country Club and I was there,” said Moscovic.

The Yamaha Golf-Car Company | Srixon / Cleveland Golf / Asics Match Play Championship was presented by Adventures In Golf, AT&T Byron Nelson, Lajitas Golf Resort, PGA TOUR and XXIO.

THE COLONY, Texas (March 2) – The team of Robert Bruns, PGA Head Professional at Trinity Forest Golf Club, along with partner Chase Walts, PGM Student at Methodist University who currently works as an assistant at Trinity Forest Golf Club won the 2026 KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship after a two hole playoff. The two carded a bogey-free, 12-under-par, final score after shooting 64 on Old American Golf Club and a 31 on the back nine of Tribute Golf Links. They bested the team of Spencer Dillard and Alastair Jones from Preston Trail Golf Club. The 27-hole, Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship was hosted at Golf Clubs at The Tribute for the sixth straight year. Teams played Old American Golf Club and the back nine of Tribute Golf Links. Bruns and Walts both had looks inside 10 feet on the second playoff hole, though it was Bruns who poured in the winning putt. “I knew he had it in the bag, so I think that made it much easier for me to just be free and let it go,” said Bruns. Walts recently became an assistant professional at Trinity Forest, and said, “Robert is such a huge mentor to me and my career already. I hope to learn from everything he knows and that goes for golf as well.” “It makes it much easier when you’re in the mix coming down the fairway and you have a great relationship with each other. At the end of the day you’re just having fun,” Bruns said after their victory. This is the first win for both Bruns and Walts in Section Major Championships. The pair earned $3,200 ($1,600 each) out of the record $32,000 total championship purse. The KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship was presented by Callaway Golf, Club Car, Evolve Golf, Landmark Golf Course Products, Range Servant, THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, and Winston Collection. He finished his comments by saying, “I do not intend to reinvent what is already strong. I intend to build on it.” Thank you to all of the PGA of America Golf Professionals in our Section who attended these special and important events over the past few days.
