McCorkle Wins Second Straight Senior Division Title

MIDLAND, Texas (July 15) – Jarred Jeter, PGA assistant professional at Shady Oaks Country Club captured the 2025 Golf Pro Payments Western Championship at Midland Country Club after a playoff. He carded rounds of 67-70–137, 7-under-par and made a par on the first playoff hole to secure the victory.

Jeter began the day tied with Matt Lohmeyer, PGA director of instruction at SLICGOLF, and two other professionals at 5-under-par. Standing on the 16th tee, Jeter trailed Lohmeyer by three strokes. A birdie on 16 and pars on the final two holes led to a tie at the end of regulation.

The playoff was conducted on the par-4, 18th hole. Jeter hit first and found the fairway, followed by Lohmeyer finding the right rough. Again playing first, Jeter found the green and left himself a putt within 20-feet. Lohmeyer clipped a tree on his approach shot and did not find the green until his third shot. A two-putt from both players sealed the victory for Jeter.

Before moving to Shady Oaks Country Club Jeter was the assistant professional at Midland Country club for four years. This title eluded him each of those years although he finished inside the top three in 2023 and 2024. “It feels amazing. The fact that I’ve been so close, so many times over the past three years and to finally get it done in such dramatic fashion,” he said.

The win marks Jeter’s second NTPGA Section Major Championship victory and he earned $4,500.

Last fall, Midland Country Club golf course superintendent and 2021 NTPGA superintendent of the year, Fore Brown unexpectedly passed away. Fore was a dedicated superintendent, mentor and friend to the game of golf. He dedicated over 20 years to elevating Midland Country Club.

In memory of Fore Brown and his lasting contributions to the game of golf, the Western Championship trophy has been officially named the Fore Brown Trophy. This tribute, unanimously approved by the NTPGA Board of Directors, honors Fore’s dedication to the Northern Texas PGA, our Members, and his decades of service as Superintendent at Midland Country Club.

The trophy will carry Fore’s name for as long as the Western Championship is held at Midland Country Club, and a permanent replica will be displayed at the club in his honor. We are proud to recognize Fore’s legacy as we celebrate his life and the impact he made on our Section.

“It means so much more to me that his name bears something that symbolizes the game that he loved and his dedication to our Section,” said Jeter. “I said today that I was going to play for him. I think he kind of nudged one of those balls in the cup one way or another. He helped me get this thing done.”

The Senior Division title was successfully defended by Todd McCorkle, PGA Life Member. He recorded rounds of 70-68-138, 6-under-par, and finished with a three stroke victory. This marks McCorkle’s second Senior Division title in a row for the season as well, after he won the Prize Possessions | E-Z-GO Eastern Championship last month at Willow Brook Country Club.

“This golf course is very demanding off the tee, it wasn’t easy out there,” said McCorkle.

“It hasn't happened many times, but I didn’t miss a green or fairway today. I played about as good as I could play.”

Speaking about defending his title McCorkle said, “The last two years have been very special. It’s a course that tends to fit my game.”

McCorkle earned $1,600 for his victory today and firmly sits in the top spot for 2025 Rolex | XXIO Senior Points Challenge with three events remaining on the schedule.

This 36-hole Northern Texas PGA major championship was the third of four individual stroke play events that comprise the Yamaha Golf-Car Company | Srixon and Nike Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf. The field competed for a record overall championship purse of $50,500.

The Golf Pro Payments Western Championship was presented by Cobra Puma Golf, Kohler, Wisconsin, GT Golf Supply Co., Midland Country Club, PGA TOUR, THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson and TurfHound.

FRISCO, Texas (June 30) – Matt Lohmeyer, PGA director of instruction at SLICGOLF, leads the Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship at Fields Ranch West at PGA Frisco after round one. Lohmeyer posted an opening round 3-under-par, 37-32–69 and holds a one-stroke lead. His round featured five birdies, including birdies on the final two holes. Lohmeyer is a past champion of this event, winning in 2019. He will look to capture his second Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship title tomorrow. In order to do so, he will have to hold off a pack of others looking to capture the title as well. Brian Norman, PGA instructor at Lakewood Country Club, Chris Brown, PGA, and Matt Tashenberg, PGA director of golf at Timarron Country Club, all finished at 2-under-par. Two-strokes behind the lead are five professionals at 1-under-par, including Kent Graham, PGA director of golf at Gleneagles Country Club. Graham, playing on short rest after the birth of his third child on Saturday, carded a 35-36–71. This included an eagle on the par-5, 17th hole, one of only four eagles made today. “I was actually going to text and pull myself out of the qualifier Saturday afternoon right after the kid came, but my wife looked at me and said ‘The heck you’re not,’ so it was a godsend to come out here and play. It was a godsend to have the kid. That puts everything into perspective,” Graham said. “The double bogey I made out there today really didn’t matter as much, and I used it as motivation to make eagle.” More than a Section Major Championship title is at stake this week for the field. Seven qualifying spots into the PGA Professional Championship are on the line this week. The Championship is set to be held April 26-29, 2026, at Bandon Dunes in Bandon, Oregon. In addition to the seven qualifiers determined tomorrow, the Section will also send two other professionals to the PGA Professional Championship. Reigning Player of the Year Spencer Dillard, PGA head professional at Preston Trail Golf Club, has earned the Section’s Pick, and Brandon Bingaman, PGA assistant professional at Gleneagles Country Club, is exempt since he qualified for the 2025 PGA Championship. Dillard finished round one at even-par, and Bingaman finished at 1-under-par. The PGA Professional Championship serves as a qualifier for 312 PGA of America golf professionals from across the country to compete for 20 spots into the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club. Seven NTPGA professionals in the field this week have played their way to the PGA Championship in the past. Lee Rhind, 2013 Oak Hill Country Club Brian Norman, 2014 Valhalla Golf Club Greg Gregory, 2017 Quail Hollow Club Brandon Bingaman, 2022 Southern Hills Club & 2025 Quail Hollow Club JJ Killeen, 2023 Oak Hill Country Club Gabe Reynolds, 2023 Oak Hill Country Club *Kenny Pigman, 2017 Quail Hollow Club & 2023 Oak Hill Country Club *Pigman qualified via the Southern California PGA. This 36-hole Northern Texas PGA major championship is the second of four individual stroke play events that comprise the Yamaha Golf-Car Company | Srixon and Nike Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf. The field is competing for a purse of $46,000 and a $5,100 champion check. The Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship is presented by Club Car, Corebridge Financial and Rolex. Supporting partners include Gallagher, Golf Channel and the PGA TOUR.
