DALLAS, TX – JJ Killeen, PGA head professional at Red Feather Golf and Social Club, is victorious at the Prize Possessions | E-Z-GO Eastern Championship. Killeen finished the Championship at 7-under-par after rounds of 71-66–137.

“Last year was my first year in the Section and I just feel comfortable,” said Killeen. “This was a fun course, I had played it in college, but couldn't really remember it. When you play a fun course or one you look forward to playing you sometimes play well.” Killeen heads home to Lubbock with a $3,600 check.

Killeen is the reigning Northern Texas PGA Section Champion and Player of the Year. This marks his second consecutive individual Section major championship. Killeen is currently part of a team overseeing the construction of Red Feather Golf and Social Club in Lubbock, Texas. The new facility is scheduled to open Summer of 2023.

The Championship also included a Senior Division that was made up of 41 professionals ages 50 and over, playing for a separate title and purse. Stuart Hendley, PGA director of instruction at Dallas Athletic Club and Todd McCorkle, PGA Life Member finished at even-par for the Championship and were crowned Co-Champions. Both players took home $1,500 for their share of first place.

“It was nice, I played well again today and made a few putts. The conditions were tough, so I am thrilled about no bogeys. I didn't have a three putt for 36 holes,” said Hendley. “It's always fun doing that on your home course.” The win today is Hendley’s tenth Senior Division Section major championship victory. Hendley fired a final round 35-34–69, 3-under-par.

McCorkle just joined the Northern Texas Section seven months ago and this was his first Section major championship. “To play as well as I did, I was excited,” said McCorkle. “I really putted well this week. I was just so excited about the golf course, the greens were so perfect so it was just fun to play.” McCorkle comes to the Northern Texas Section from the Alabama-NW Florida Section.

The Prize Possessions | E-Z-GO Eastern Championship was presented by AT&T Byron Nelson, GT Golf Supplies, Levelwear, PGA TOUR, PXG, Strike Visuals, Therabody and Vibe Tumblers.

This 36-hole Northern Texas PGA major championship is the first of four individual stroke play events that comprise the Yamaha Golf-Car Company | Srixon / Cleveland Golf / Asics Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf.

THE COLONY, Texas (March 2) – The team of Robert Bruns, PGA Head Professional at Trinity Forest Golf Club, along with partner Chase Walts, PGM Student at Methodist University who currently works as an assistant at Trinity Forest Golf Club won the 2026 KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship after a two hole playoff. The two carded a bogey-free, 12-under-par, final score after shooting 64 on Old American Golf Club and a 31 on the back nine of Tribute Golf Links. They bested the team of Spencer Dillard and Alastair Jones from Preston Trail Golf Club. The 27-hole, Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship was hosted at Golf Clubs at The Tribute for the sixth straight year. Teams played Old American Golf Club and the back nine of Tribute Golf Links. Bruns and Walts both had looks inside 10 feet on the second playoff hole, though it was Bruns who poured in the winning putt. “I knew he had it in the bag, so I think that made it much easier for me to just be free and let it go,” said Bruns. Walts recently became an assistant professional at Trinity Forest, and said, “Robert is such a huge mentor to me and my career already. I hope to learn from everything he knows and that goes for golf as well.” “It makes it much easier when you’re in the mix coming down the fairway and you have a great relationship with each other. At the end of the day you’re just having fun,” Bruns said after their victory. This is the first win for both Bruns and Walts in Section Major Championships. The pair earned $3,200 ($1,600 each) out of the record $32,000 total championship purse. The KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship was presented by Callaway Golf, Club Car, Evolve Golf, Landmark Golf Course Products, Range Servant, THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, and Winston Collection.
