NTPGA • June 1, 2018

ARLINGTON, TX – Binny Lee of Frisco, Texas, will take a one-stroke lead into tomorrow’s final round of the Energy Producers, Inc. Texas Women’s Open at Rolling Hills Country Club over Marissa Chow of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Shawnee Martinez of Modesto, California. Lee finished at 1-under par in today’s round to sit at even par 142 for the championship. She notched an eagle, four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey for her 70 today.

Lee stated after her round, “This is my first time playing in [the Texas Women’s Open]. I know the competition is good and obviously the exemption for first place is amazing. I have Q-School in August, so I thought this would be a good tournament to kind of prep for that.”

Following today’s round, the 112-player field was cut to the low 50 scores and ties. Lee will lead a field of 50 players into the final round of the Championship. 32 professionals and 18 amateurs survived the cut, which was at 11-over-par 153.

The 32 remaining professionals in the field are competing for a share of the professional purse. The 19 remaining amateurs are competing for the Low Amateur award and a crystal trophy. The top five amateurs will receive gift certificates. Currently, Hanna Alberto (a) of Kingwood, Texas, sits atop the Low Amateur leaderboard at 3-over-par 145.

The overall championship purse is $27,535. The 50 players who made the cut will also be competing for an LPGA Tour exemption. The 2018 Champion will receive an exemption into the 2019 Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic.
