Brown and Gibralter (a) claim Senior Division

DALLAS, Texas (March 24) – Brian Norman, PGA instructor at Lakewood Country Club, and Bobby Massa (a) earned the 2026 Srixon / Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch Championship title after a record-breaking 22-under-par. It marks back-to-back Pro-Scratch Championship victories and their third victory in four attempts.

The duo carded rounds of 62-60–132, going wire-to-wire to secure the victory by five strokes. An 8-under-par stretch spanning from the seventh to the 13th hole fueled a dominant final round.

“I think after we made eagle on the par five, 13, we knew we were moving along pretty good,” said Massa (a). Bobby refers to last year’s championship, where the two battled their way into a playoff, saying, “It was a much more enjoyable last four holes this time around.”

“We played great yesterday, hit it close and made a lot of putts, so it was cool to post a better score than yesterday,” said Norman. The pair also added that they play great together, citing their ability to pick each other up when one is in trouble.

Dallas Athletic Club has been kind to the two of them, and in return, they gave a nod to the course conditions. “The greens were phenomenal, it makes it easier on us to make putts.”

For their Open Division victory, they earned a team total of $2,000 of the $33,000 Championship purse.

In the Senior Division, Tim Brown, PGA head professional at Dallas Athletic Club, and Jeff Gibralter (a) defended their home turf. They carded rounds of 65-67–132, 12-under-par, to win by one.

Starting the final round with a one-stroke lead, the duo stretched the lead to six before the afternoon wave took the course. After a lengthy afternoon wait, their score held up, crowning them champions.

Brown emphasized how crucial course knowledge was. “It was huge. Probably the only thing bigger than that was having him read my putts all day,” as he gestured to Gibralter (a). “It’s always easy to play with the best putter in the world.”

The two added how incredible it is to win at their home course, “It makes it 100% more special for us to win here versus anywhere else. It’s nice to perform well in front of your friends and other members,” said Gibralter (a).

In his closing remarks, Brown stated, “It is a pleasure to work at Dallas Athletic Club. Driving through the gate every morning, I’m reminded it is the greatest country club in America.”

The team earned $1,400 for their victory.

The Srixon / Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch Championship is presented by Adventures In Golf, BlueGolf, Collars & Co. & Dan Liscio, Flagstick Films, Maui Jim, Perry Weather, Premier Greens and Vortex® Golf.

THE COLONY, Texas (March 2) – The team of Robert Bruns, PGA Head Professional at Trinity Forest Golf Club, along with partner Chase Walts, PGM Student at Methodist University who currently works as an assistant at Trinity Forest Golf Club won the 2026 KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship after a two hole playoff. The two carded a bogey-free, 12-under-par, final score after shooting 64 on Old American Golf Club and a 31 on the back nine of Tribute Golf Links. They bested the team of Spencer Dillard and Alastair Jones from Preston Trail Golf Club. The 27-hole, Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship was hosted at Golf Clubs at The Tribute for the sixth straight year. Teams played Old American Golf Club and the back nine of Tribute Golf Links. Bruns and Walts both had looks inside 10 feet on the second playoff hole, though it was Bruns who poured in the winning putt. “I knew he had it in the bag, so I think that made it much easier for me to just be free and let it go,” said Bruns. Walts recently became an assistant professional at Trinity Forest, and said, “Robert is such a huge mentor to me and my career already. I hope to learn from everything he knows and that goes for golf as well.” “It makes it much easier when you’re in the mix coming down the fairway and you have a great relationship with each other. At the end of the day you’re just having fun,” Bruns said after their victory. This is the first win for both Bruns and Walts in Section Major Championships. The pair earned $3,200 ($1,600 each) out of the record $32,000 total championship purse. The KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship was presented by Callaway Golf, Club Car, Evolve Golf, Landmark Golf Course Products, Range Servant, THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, and Winston Collection. He finished his comments by saying, “I do not intend to reinvent what is already strong. I intend to build on it.” Thank you to all of the PGA of America Golf Professionals in our Section who attended these special and important events over the past few days.
