CARROLLTON, TX –  Brian Norman, PGA instructor at Lakewood Country Club and amateur partner Bobby Massa (a) win the 2023 Srixon / Cleveland Golf / Asics Pro-Scratch Championship at Maridoe Golf Club. The duo finished at 11-under-par after rounds of 67 and 66.

Massa (a), who made it to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship this year, got the pair started off hot with a chip-in for birdie on the first hole today. They then birdied four of their next five holes. “We just got off to a good start,” said Massa. “I chipped in from the front of the green on one and that set the tone. After that he [Norman] made a chip-in on three and we were off to the races.”

Speaking of his partner Norman laughingly said, “It was a last minute addition. I’ve known Bobby over the years…he’s a great human being and an incredible player and we’ve become pretty good buddies. It’s been a lot of fun.” For their Open Division victory Norman earned $1,200 and Massa (a) earned a $1,000 gift certificate to the Maridoe Golf Club pro-shop.

In the Senior Division Brennan Little, PGA and partner Alan Abbott (a) finished at 8-under-par to claim the title. A slow start on day one was bolstered by a  late charge in the final round. They birdied four of the last five holes today to card a 34-32–66 and win by two shots. Little earned $500 and Abbott (a) received a $500 gift certificate.

The Srixon / Cleveland Golf / Asics Pro-Scratch Championship was presented by Adventures In Golf, BlueGolf, Dan Liscio & Donald Ross Sportswear, Jim Quinn’s Finer Golf Products, Maui Jim, Perry Weather, Premier Greens, Talley Riggins Construction Group and THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.
