IRVING, Texas (April 2) – Jeff Barton, PGA director of instruction at Preston Trail Golf Club and partner Charlie Holland (a) fired the lowest final round of the day, 4-under-par, 66 to win the Srixon and Nike Pro-Scratch Championship at TPC Las Colinas Course at The Nelson Golf & Sports Club. Rounds of 64-66 and 10-under-par finish helped the first time partners secure a one stroke victory in the Four-Ball Stroke Play Northern Texas PGA major championship. Speaking about the new partnership Holland (a) said of Barton, “He’s the best. It’s easy, he just hits it down the middle then on the green and makes some putts. We’re a great team.” The final round tested players with a bold north wind gusting up to 30mph. “It was difficult, especially that front nine. Charlie did great, made three birdies on the front nine to keep us in it and we just battled as much as we could,” said Barton. This is the first Section major championship that Barton has won since March 2021. “It’s always great to be in the winners circle with so many great players in the Section, so any time you can win an event in this Section it’s pretty good,” he added.
