RICHARDSON, Texas
– The team of Chris Brown and J.J. Henry was victorious today following the final round of the The Ratliff Group & O’Brien Architects Pro-Pro Championship. With incredible, bogey-free rounds of 61-63–124, 20 under par, they captured their title by a six shot margin. Brown and Henry are PGA Members who spend their working days on the PGA TOUR. Brown caddies throughout the season, and Henry has been playing on TOUR since 2001.
“It was great [playing together]. We got along really well and had a lot of fun,” Brown said after their round. “We spend more time together than we spend with our families since we’re on TOUR together!” Henry joked. “We know each other’s game really well and we made it work. For me personally, winning the Pro-Scratch with my caddie in 2006 and then winning this has been really great. Hopefully what we did this week will carry over into the fall and next spring for us as well.”
Upon the completion of the championship, J.J. Henry donated his winnings to the Northern Texas PGA Foundation.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to play the PGA TOUR for 20 something years. This week with Chris was more about friendship than the competition,” said Henry. “It is fortunate, too, that my son is playing and loves the game. He has grown up on the NTPGA’s Junior Tour. The Section does a wonderful job growing the game and it only made sense to donate my winnings from the tournament back to the Foundation. Next spring or summer we will host an event in my name and I am excited to have all the kids out to play and compete.”
Again this year, the Championship had a Senior Division, with 14 of the 58 participating teams paired together who are aged 50 or older. These teams were competing for a separate $7,850 purse and played at modified yardages.
Bruce Smith, PGA director of instruction at Black Belt Golf Academy, and Brian Mahon, PGA teaching professional at Hank Haney Vista Ridge, captured the Senior Division title with impressive rounds of 65-64–129, 15 under par. This was their first time teaming-up at the Pro-Pro Championship and both stated they would “be back to defend their title next year”.
The Four-Ball Stroke Play Northern Texas PGA major championship featured a field of 58 two-person teams comprised of PGA Members and Associates competing at Sherrill Park Golf Course - Course #1, a par 72, 7,031-yard facility located in Richardson.
The Ratliff Group & O’Brien Architects Pro-Pro Championship was presented by Adventures In Golf, AT&T Byron Nelson, Callaway Golf, Club Car, Columbia Golf, E-Z-GO, Golf ScoreCards, Inc., Lorente Golf, and Perry Weather.

The PGA of America announced today that Ronny Glanton, PGA head professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course, will be inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame. Glanton, a native of Mineral Wells, Texas, began his career in 1981 as an Assistant Professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson, Texas. Upon achieving PGA of America membership in 1984, he took over as Head Professional and has been at the Richardson facility ever since. He is the only member to serve twice as President of the NTPGA (2006-07, ‘18-’19). Glanton played a key role in the PGA of America’s relocation to Frisco, Texas. He is a passionate advocate for junior golf, developing impactful programs like the Sherrill Park Learning Center and the Hawks junior golf team, which have introduced thousands of new golfers to the game; his leadership in the creation of “The Ronny” Golf Park on the PGA Frisco campus further expands community outreach and player development. Among his previous awards are PGA of America Golf Professional of the Year (2020), NTPGA Golf Professional of the Year (1999, ‘07, ‘19), NTPGA Bill Strausbaugh Award (2003-05, ‘08, ‘14) and NTPGA Merchandiser of the Year (1994), plus induction into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame in 2022. Glanton actively supports his colleagues, raising over $100,000 through pro-ams for PGA Members facing medical hardships. He’s also been a four-time contestant in the PGA Professional Championship, five-time contestant in the Senior PGA Professional National Championship and seven-time participant in the PGA TOUR Byron Nelson (now the CJ Cup Byron Nelson). Glanton is a three-time NTPGA Major Champion, six-time Senior Division Major Champion and a 17-time member of the NTPGA Joe Black Cup Team, which he has also captained three times. The PGA of America Hall of Fame originated in 1940 at the suggestion of famed sportswriter Grantland Rice. It is the highest honor the PGA of America can bestow upon its membership or ambassadors of the game.
