DALLAS, TX – After a sudden death playoff, Danny Coughlan, PGA head professional at Bent Tree Country Club, and his amateur partner Scott Maurer captured the title of Lajitas Golf Resort & Srixon / Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch Champions. Maurer’s 20 foot putt for birdie on #18 in the playoff clinched their victory. They finished the Championship with rounds of 67-65–132, 10 under.
“This is my first win as a member of the NTPGA,” Coughlan said. “And it’s even better to do it with a friend. His play was pretty incredible over the last couple of days so I’m more proud of him than anything else. We’ve been working together for a little over a year so it was great to get to spend a couple of days playing together as friends.”
The Open Division featured a field with 69 teams of one PGA Professional teamed with one scratch amateur. Open Division teams were competing for a share of the $18,400 purse. Amateurs were awarded gift certificates.

Again this year, the Championship included a Senior Division of 15 teams with one PGA Professional and one scratch amateur paired together aged 50 or older. These teams competed for a separate $4,100 purse and played at modified yardages. The team of Rick Woodson, PGA teaching professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course, and his playing partner Scott Wagoner (a), captured the Senior Division title with impressive rounds of 68-66–134, 8 under.
The Four-Ball Stroke Play Northern Texas PGA major championship was conducted at Lakewood Country Club, a 6,742-yard, par 71 course located in Dallas, Texas.
