Cameron Doan, PGA head professional at Preston Trail Golf Club in Dallas, carded four birdies and an eagle to go along with three bogies in the final round to claim the TPx Communications Western Championship. He fired a final round of 3-under 68 to finish the event with rounds of 69-68–137, 5-under-par.

After the round Doan was elated to win the event with his son Tristan as his caddie. He stated, “The best part about it was my son Tristan was riding around with me for two days. We just came to have a good time...it was very cool and he was helpful!” Tristan said it was great getting to spend two days with his dad, watching him do what he loves most.

Doan took home a $2,900 check for his victory.

Armando Villareal, head professional at Oeste Ranch Golf Club, Spencer Dillard, PGA assistant professional at Preston Trail Golf Club, and Brian Norman, PGA assistant professional at Royal Oaks Country Club, finished two strokes behind Doan and tied for second at 3-under-par, 139

The Championship included a Senior Division comprised of 26 professionals aged 50 or older who competed for a separate $9,100 purse and played at a modified yardage. Britt Patton, PGA teaching professional at the Vaquero Club, finished with a two-day total of 4-under-par to finish the Championship at 138 and capture the TPx Communications Western Championship Senior Division title and his first Section Major Championship title.

After the round, Patton stated, “that this win really was an honor. I have been close multiple times but it was great to finally finish first!” He took home a check for $1,200.

The TPx Communications Western Championship was conducted by the Northern Texas PGA and was presented by AT&T Byron Nelson, Envirocleanse, HATH, PGA TOUR and TurfHound. This 36-hole Northern Texas PGA major championship was the first of four individual stroke play events that comprise the Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO / ASICS Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf, and serves as a qualifier for the 2020 Texas Joe Black Cup and Levy Cup teams.

The Championship was conducted at Wichita Falls Country Club, a 6,884-yards, par 71 layout. The 105-player field was comprised of golf professionals from the Northern Texas Section of the PGA of America who competed for an overall purse of $35,000.
