GRAPEVINE, Texas (May 29, 2025) – Carding a 7-under-par, second round 65, Sadie Englemann of Austin, TX, solidified herself as the Championship leader heading into the final round of the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open.

Englemann fired a bogey-free second round of 32-33–65, and sits at 12-under-par for the Championship. She holds a four-stroke lead with 18 holes to play.

“I can’t say you ever expect to be in the lead or you ever expect to miss the cut, but it’s something I have been working towards, and I feel really confident in my game right now, so being in this position is great,” Englemann said. “I’m going to take that into tomorrow and be grateful that I’m in this position.”

Englemann began her professional career this year and has already built an impressive resume with three top-10 finishes on the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour. This follows her successful collegiate career at Stanford University, where she won two team national championship titles.

Looking to get her first professional win tomorrow, Englemann said, “Obviously, the win is what most people would think is the goal, but like I said, I’ve put myself in contention and that’s what I’ve been trying to do, so I don’t hold any expectations for tomorrow. I just hope I stick to my game plan, stick to the shots I’m hitting, go have some fun, and put myself in a position to win.”

There are seven players within six shots of the lead looking to surpass Englemann on Friday.

Angela Stanford, 2026 Team USA Solheim Cup captain, carded a 5-under-par round today and is at 6-under-par.

“I think for tomorrow I need to go to the range and get some swing thoughts sorted out. I had way too much going on mentally out there swing-wise,” Stanford said. “You know, golf is so weird. Today was a good, weird day; you can have bad, weird days. It was a weird day, but it was a good day.”

Also at 6-under-par is Canton, TX, native Mia Nixon (a). She leads the amateur division and will look to claim the Low Amateur title tomorrow. She holds a two-stroke lead over Michelle Lee (a).

Anna Lesher of Ashland, Ohio, one-hopped her tee shot on the par-3 eighth hole straight into the cup for the Championship’s first hole-in-one. She hit an 8-iron from 143 yards. Immediately following, Lesher made an eagle on the 9th hole, completing both holes in only five strokes.

Fifty-seven players survived the cut and will play in tomorrow’s final round. The final round will begin tomorrow at 8 a.m. on the #1 tee. The final grouping will start at 11:09 a.m.

The field is competing for a $78,210 Championship purse with the champion earning $12,500 for their victory on Friday. The top two finishers will earn exemptions into the Epson Tour’s Great Lakes Championship.

This is the first year the Northern Texas PGA and the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT) have partnered to have the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open as an official points and money list event on the WAPT schedule.

A key piece of the partnership was creating a $2,500 ANNIKA Foundation college scholarship to be awarded to a female NTPGA junior golfer. That scholarship and a $5,000 Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open scholarship will be awarded at tomorrow afternoon’s awards ceremony. It will begin at approximately 3:45 p.m.

In addition, a $2,500 college scholarship was created, and it will be awarded during tomorrow’s awards ceremony around 3:45 p.m.

GRAPEVINE, Texas (May 28, 2025) – Sadie Englemann of Austin, TX, and Siyan Chen, of Irvine, CA, share the lead after round one of the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open. Both players carded a 5-under-par round of 67 and hold a one stroke lead. Speaking on her round Englemann said, “Putting was super good today. I was hitting a lot of greens and making the putts. I actually did struggle with my driver; I took two water balls, but made pars, so it ended up being fine, so the putting was saving me today.” This is Englemann’s third time playing in the Championship. She previously competed in 2020 and 2021 as an amatuer. “I played it when I was a senior in high school, and I’ve been wanting to play it each year as an amateur, except I’ve been in college. I just wanted to come here and play the Texas Women’s Open,” said Englemann. Since then, she helped the Stanford Cardinals claim two national championships (2022 & 2024), and she turned professional this spring. She has competed in three ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour events and placed in the top 10 in each. Siyan Chen is in her second full year competing on the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT). In 2023, she turned professional after a collegiate career at the University of Illinois. She has 12 top 10 finishes during her time on the WAPT. Chen spoke about playing in the Championship for the first time saying, “I’ve played a lot of WAPT tournaments before this one, so I wanted to get some points for the Race 2 Qualifying. I wanted to test out my game. Hopefully, I get into some Epson tournaments later in the summer.” “I would say my approach shots were decent. It set me up for some good birdie putts. My putting was good today, so I was able to take advantage of the putts,” said Chen about her round one play. 2026 Team USA Solheim Cup captain Angela Stanford carded a 36-35–71 to finish at 1-under-par. Stanford, who is a Fort Worth, TX, native and former Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour member, is playing in the Championship for the third-straight year. “Honestly, I wanted to come back because I actually enjoyed the golf course. I just think you guys run a great tournament. It’s just a great event. I live 35 minutes away, and I love playing. I love to play competitive golf. Just because you age out of one tour doesn’t mean you stop trying to compete. I thought it was a great event last year, and everybody is so friendly, even the guys here at the Grapevine Golf Course, very welcoming. It’s easy to come back and play great events,” said Stanford about returning to play in the Championship. Round two will begin tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. with tee times beginning on the #1 and #10 tees. After the conclusion of round two, the field will be cut to the low 50 players and ties. The field is competing for a $75,000 Championship purse with the champion earning $12,500 for their victory on Friday. The top two finishers will earn exemptions into the Epson Tour’s Great Lakes Championship. Grapevine Golf Course (Pecan/Mockingbird) Par: 36-36–72 Yardage: 6,334 yards View the current results HERE
