Nixon (a) Claims Low Amateur Honors

GRAPEVINE, Texas (May 30, 2025) – Sadie Englemann of Austin, TX, won the 2025 Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open. Rounds of 67-65-72–204, 12-under-par, were enough for Englemann to win by two strokes and claim her first professional victory.

Englemann started her round with three pars before making an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole and increasing her lead to seven strokes. The large lead would not last as a bogey on the sixth hole and birdies by the chasing pack decreased her lead.

Angela Stanford, a former Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour member and the 2026 Team USA Solheim Cup captain, was one of the players chasing Englemann’s lead.

“I knew if anyone was going to chase me down, it was going to be her. Just playing alongside her is cool too because she has made a mark on golf, and I know she is going to be the Solheim Cup captain next year, so that’s even cooler,” said Englemann about Stanford’s final round charge.

A few late birdies on the back nine for Englemann allowed her to head to the 18th tee only needing a bogey to win the Championship. She made a routine two-putt for par and etched her name in Texas Women’s Open history.

When asked what it means to win the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open, Englemann said, “Phew. I don’t think it has quite sunk in yet just because, I don’t know, the last nine holes were pretty stressful, but it’s really special. Like I’ve said previously, playing at home is unreal, and being able to get my first professional win in Texas is even more special.”

With her victory today, Englemann earned $12,500, a crystal trophy, a pair of custom-painted boots courtesy of RTown Art Gallery, and an exemption into the Epson Tour’s Great Lakes Championship next month.

Thanks to the new partnership between the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour and the Northern Texas PGA, the exemptions were made possible. Hailey Jones of Dallas, TX, who finished T2, also earned an Epson Tour exemption today.

Mia Nixon (a) of Canton, TX, was awarded the Championship’s low amateur honor. She carded rounds of 72-66-73–211, 5-under-par, and finished in a tie for eighth place. This is the fifth year in a row that she has played in the Championship.

“It’s been great. It gets better every single year we come out. It’s organized super well. The course is always in great condition. They (NTPGA) tailor everything to the players, and it’s just amazing to be out here and be a part of it,” she said about the Championship.

Nixon (a) is also a former Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour member and reflected on her junior days saying, “I think it just gets you into competition. Fighting for a spot. I mean, even in college you have to fight for your spot to play on a team, play in these big events, and it just gives you a background to kind of lean on in tough times or shaky situations. It’s great to grow up in competition, especially NTPGA. It’s been my life for a long time.”

Two college scholarships were also awarded today after play to two Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour members. Chloe Sirkin of Grapevine, TX, was awarded the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open Scholarship totaling $5,000. Landry Addison of Dallas, TX, was awarded the $2,500 ANNIKA Foundation scholarship.

Addison said she “hopes to be playing in this event next year,” and Sirkin competed in the Championship this year and last year.

Thanks to a multi-year partnership with Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Championship will return to Grapevine Golf Course for the third consecutive year in 2026.

THE COLONY, Texas (March 2) – The team of Robert Bruns, PGA Head Professional at Trinity Forest Golf Club, along with partner Chase Walts, PGM Student at Methodist University who currently works as an assistant at Trinity Forest Golf Club won the 2026 KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship after a two hole playoff. The two carded a bogey-free, 12-under-par, final score after shooting 64 on Old American Golf Club and a 31 on the back nine of Tribute Golf Links. They bested the team of Spencer Dillard and Alastair Jones from Preston Trail Golf Club. The 27-hole, Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship was hosted at Golf Clubs at The Tribute for the sixth straight year. Teams played Old American Golf Club and the back nine of Tribute Golf Links. Bruns and Walts both had looks inside 10 feet on the second playoff hole, though it was Bruns who poured in the winning putt. “I knew he had it in the bag, so I think that made it much easier for me to just be free and let it go,” said Bruns. Walts recently became an assistant professional at Trinity Forest, and said, “Robert is such a huge mentor to me and my career already. I hope to learn from everything he knows and that goes for golf as well.” “It makes it much easier when you’re in the mix coming down the fairway and you have a great relationship with each other. At the end of the day you’re just having fun,” Bruns said after their victory. This is the first win for both Bruns and Walts in Section Major Championships. The pair earned $3,200 ($1,600 each) out of the record $32,000 total championship purse. The KBS TOUR Shafts Pro-Assistant Championship was presented by Callaway Golf, Club Car, Evolve Golf, Landmark Golf Course Products, Range Servant, THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, and Winston Collection. Before the meeting adjourned, the newly elected President, Ira Molayo, the PGA General Manager at Cedar Crest Golf Course in Dallas, addressed the membership. He stated that it is an honor to serve as the 32nd President of the Northern Texas PGA, using the word ‘serve’ intentionally because this position, like every role in our profession, is not about title. It is about stewardship. He then gave four notes about his commitment in these next two years – to represent all Members, across facilities, across classifications, across backgrounds, to listen carefully, to communicate clearly, and to support the staff and volunteers who carry this Section forward every day. He finished his comments by saying, “I do not intend to reinvent what is already strong. I intend to build on it.” Thank you to all of the PGA of America Golf Professionals in our Section who attended these special and important events over the past few days. Our Board and our staff look forward to a successful 2026.
