Nixon (a) Claims Low Amateur Honors

GRAPEVINE, Texas (May 30, 2025) – Sadie Englemann of Austin, TX, won the 2025 Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open. Rounds of 67-65-72–204, 12-under-par, were enough for Englemann to win by two strokes and claim her first professional victory.

Englemann started her round with three pars before making an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole and increasing her lead to seven strokes. The large lead would not last as a bogey on the sixth hole and birdies by the chasing pack decreased her lead.

Angela Stanford, a former Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour member and the 2026 Team USA Solheim Cup captain, was one of the players chasing Englemann’s lead.

“I knew if anyone was going to chase me down, it was going to be her. Just playing alongside her is cool too because she has made a mark on golf, and I know she is going to be the Solheim Cup captain next year, so that’s even cooler,” said Englemann about Stanford’s final round charge.

A few late birdies on the back nine for Englemann allowed her to head to the 18th tee only needing a bogey to win the Championship. She made a routine two-putt for par and etched her name in Texas Women’s Open history.

When asked what it means to win the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open, Englemann said, “Phew. I don’t think it has quite sunk in yet just because, I don’t know, the last nine holes were pretty stressful, but it’s really special. Like I’ve said previously, playing at home is unreal, and being able to get my first professional win in Texas is even more special.”

With her victory today, Englemann earned $12,500, a crystal trophy, a pair of custom-painted boots courtesy of RTown Art Gallery, and an exemption into the Epson Tour’s Great Lakes Championship next month.

Thanks to the new partnership between the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour and the Northern Texas PGA, the exemptions were made possible. Hailey Jones of Dallas, TX, who finished T2, also earned an Epson Tour exemption today.

Mia Nixon (a) of Canton, TX, was awarded the Championship’s low amateur honor. She carded rounds of 72-66-73–211, 5-under-par, and finished in a tie for eighth place. This is the fifth year in a row that she has played in the Championship.

“It’s been great. It gets better every single year we come out. It’s organized super well. The course is always in great condition. They (NTPGA) tailor everything to the players, and it’s just amazing to be out here and be a part of it,” she said about the Championship.

Nixon (a) is also a former Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour member and reflected on her junior days saying, “I think it just gets you into competition. Fighting for a spot. I mean, even in college you have to fight for your spot to play on a team, play in these big events, and it just gives you a background to kind of lean on in tough times or shaky situations. It’s great to grow up in competition, especially NTPGA. It’s been my life for a long time.”

Two college scholarships were also awarded today after play to two Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour members. Chloe Sirkin of Grapevine, TX, was awarded the Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open Scholarship totaling $5,000. Landry Addison of Dallas, TX, was awarded the $2,500 ANNIKA Foundation scholarship.

Addison said she “hopes to be playing in this event next year,” and Sirkin competed in the Championship this year and last year.

Thanks to a multi-year partnership with Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Championship will return to Grapevine Golf Course for the third consecutive year in 2026.

FRISCO, Texas (June 30) – Matt Lohmeyer, PGA director of instruction at SLICGOLF, leads the Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship at Fields Ranch West at PGA Frisco after round one. Lohmeyer posted an opening round 3-under-par, 37-32–69 and holds a one-stroke lead. His round featured five birdies, including birdies on the final two holes. Lohmeyer is a past champion of this event, winning in 2019. He will look to capture his second Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship title tomorrow. In order to do so, he will have to hold off a pack of others looking to capture the title as well. Brian Norman, PGA instructor at Lakewood Country Club, Chris Brown, PGA, and Matt Tashenberg, PGA director of golf at Timarron Country Club, all finished at 2-under-par. Two-strokes behind the lead are five professionals at 1-under-par, including Kent Graham, PGA director of golf at Gleneagles Country Club. Graham, playing on short rest after the birth of his third child on Saturday, carded a 35-36–71. This included an eagle on the par-5, 17th hole, one of only four eagles made today. “I was actually going to text and pull myself out of the qualifier Saturday afternoon right after the kid came, but my wife looked at me and said ‘The heck you’re not,’ so it was a godsend to come out here and play. It was a godsend to have the kid. That puts everything into perspective,” Graham said. “The double bogey I made out there today really didn’t matter as much, and I used it as motivation to make eagle.” More than a Section Major Championship title is at stake this week for the field. Seven qualifying spots into the PGA Professional Championship are on the line this week. The Championship is set to be held April 26-29, 2026, at Bandon Dunes in Bandon, Oregon. In addition to the seven qualifiers determined tomorrow, the Section will also send two other professionals to the PGA Professional Championship. Reigning Player of the Year Spencer Dillard, PGA head professional at Preston Trail Golf Club, has earned the Section’s Pick, and Brandon Bingaman, PGA assistant professional at Gleneagles Country Club, is exempt since he qualified for the 2025 PGA Championship. Dillard finished round one at even-par, and Bingaman finished at 1-under-par. The PGA Professional Championship serves as a qualifier for 312 PGA of America golf professionals from across the country to compete for 20 spots into the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club. Seven NTPGA professionals in the field this week have played their way to the PGA Championship in the past. Lee Rhind, 2013 Oak Hill Country Club Brian Norman, 2014 Valhalla Golf Club Greg Gregory, 2017 Quail Hollow Club Brandon Bingaman, 2022 Southern Hills Club & 2025 Quail Hollow Club JJ Killeen, 2023 Oak Hill Country Club Gabe Reynolds, 2023 Oak Hill Country Club *Kenny Pigman, 2017 Quail Hollow Club & 2023 Oak Hill Country Club *Pigman qualified via the Southern California PGA. This 36-hole Northern Texas PGA major championship is the second of four individual stroke play events that comprise the Yamaha Golf-Car Company | Srixon and Nike Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf. The field is competing for a purse of $46,000 and a $5,100 champion check. The Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship is presented by Club Car, Corebridge Financial and Rolex. Supporting partners include Gallagher, Golf Channel and the PGA TOUR. The Championship is supported by Titleist/FootJoy, Callaway, Nike, Ship Sticks and TaylorMade, and presenting sponsors include Elijah Craig Bourbon and THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.
