About Fin Ewing III

The Ewing name has become synonymous with golf in North Texas thanks to Fin and his many contributions to the game even as a non-PGA professional. Ewing used his loved for the game to leverage his mindset about trying to do nice things for people without expecting anything in return.

In 2006, thanks to a connection developed by Randy Smith, Ewing signed a five-year partnership agreement to support the NTPGA Junior Golf Foundation’s summer series of tournaments. Almost 20 years later, Ewing's continued support and contributions to the NTPGA Foundation and its junior golf efforts have made one of the largest impacts on golf in the state of Texas. The Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour annually has over 4,000 members and averages about 450 tournaments conducted per year.

Ewing and his wife Beth have three children, Finley IV, Charlie and Gail. He will be the first to tell you that his two sons may have benefited the most from the NTPGA Junior Tour. Both played many years of junior golf through Northern Texas PGA programming, which took them on to collegiate golf careers.

On top of the support for junior golf, the Ewing Charity Classic is held the Monday after the Thanksgiving weekend to also raise funds for the Northern Texas PGA Foundation and the growth of the game programs it provides. It is considered one of the most unique pro-am events in the country. The fundraising tournament pairs amateur players with a local PGA of America golf professional and PGA TOUR or LPGA Tour star for the day. Following play, the PGA of America professionals who played get a chance to hit one shot closest to a designated hole to win a car.

Fin grew up in the car industry. His maternal grandfather Burton Orand and his father Finley Ewing Jr., owned and operated the Orand Buick dealership in Dallas. At the age of eight, Ewing would help clean the coffee shop housed inside the dealership. He held other jobs around the dealership during his teenage years until he headed to TCU.

In 1985, after attending TCU, Ewing took over the family business by assuming management of Ewing Buick Group. The Ewing family’s group of dealerships has expanded over the years, and now his oldest son is in the business, following in his father’s footsteps.

Ewing is known for his great stories, his quick wit, his great sense of humor, but mostly his generous spirit.

In 2016, Ewing became the first honorary Northern Texas PGA Member to thank him for the impact he has made on the Northern Texas PGA professionals and golf in North Texas.

Ewing is also a member of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame (2019) and the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic Hall of Fame (2025).
