About Ronny Glanton, PGA
Ronny Glanton has been the head professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson, Texas, since 1985. He served as President of the Northern Texas PGA Section twice, the only professional in the Section’s history to do so. His first tenure was from 2006 to 2007, and his second from 2018 to 2019. The most notable accomplishment under Glanton’s leadership, in 2018, was the announcement of PGA Frisco and a new home for the Northern Texas PGA.
Glanton was also honored by the PGA of America in 2020 with the National Golf Professional of the Year Award. Receiving a Golf Professional of the Year Award was not a new feat to Glanton, however. In 2019, he was chosen as the Northern Texas PGA Section Golf Professional of the Year, and he is the first PGA Member in the over 50-year history of the Section to win the award three times. He previously won the Section’s highest award in 1999 and in 2007.
In over 40 years of PGA membership, Glanton has demonstrated a passion and commitment to training and mentoring fellow PGA of America Golf Professionals. He has served the Association as the District 12 Director on the PGA of America's Board of Directors from 2010 to 2012 and also chaired multiple PGA of America Committees, including the Associate and Tournament Committees. He has served on several other national committees as well, including the Membership Committee.
Throughout his entire career, Glanton has been a strong advocate of junior golf. Glanton’s name is prominently on display around the Northern Texas PGA’s campus in Frisco. The Ronny Golf Park, a two-acre lighted synthetic turf golf park, bears his name. The Ronny Golf Park is home to year-round introductory junior golf programs and camps. These programs are mostly group-based instruction that emphasizes fun and enjoyment of the sport. A sign at the golf park dedicated by his lifelong friends Jon Morgan and Mark Anthony states, “Leadership is all about relationships—connections made and friendships created. Like friendship, true leadership means having integrity and encouraging others to speak up and tell their truth. When you do these things, the fine line between leadership and friendship is rendered invisible.”
Glanton grew up in Mineral Wells, Texas, with Jon Morgan. His father introduced him to the game of golf at a young age. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1978. In 1981, he was hired by his mentor, Buster Creagh, PGA, as an assistant professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course and has remained at the City of Richardson golf course throughout his career.
Glanton is a member of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame (2022) and the PGA of America Hall of Fame (2025).
