Headley & Moscovic Lead After Round One of the Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship

DENTON, Texas
– Adam Headley, PGA head professional at Green Tree Country Club, and Chad Moscovic, PGA director of instruction at Brook Hollow Golf Club, lead the Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship after Round One. Headley carded seven birdies and Moscovic carded six to finish the day at 6 under par, 65.
Sitting one shot back of the leader is defending champion Matt Lohmeyer, PGA teaching professional at GOLFTEC - Montgomery Plaza, and Cameron Doan, PGA head professional at Preston Trail Golf Club.
During today’s round, Brad Ott, PGA director of instruction at TPC Craig Ranch, and Clinton Naegelin, PGA teaching professional at Twin Rivers Golf Club, made hole-in-ones. Both professionals used 7-irons and both aces occurred on the 167-yard 11th hole.
This 36-hole NTPGA Section major championship is the third of the four individual stroke play championships that comprise the Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO / ASICS Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf. It also serves as a qualifier to earn points to make the 2020 Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf Match Play Championship, Texas Joe Black Cup team and Levy Cup team.
The field is also competing for seven qualifying spots into the 54th PGA Professional Championship set to take place April 25-28, 2021 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Matt Lohmeyer, 2019 Player of the Year, is already exempt for the 54th PGA Professional Championship via the “Section’s pick” which will be awarded annually to the Northern Texas PGA’s Player of the Year. At the 54th PGA Professional Championship, the top 20 finishers will earn a spot into the 103rd PGA Championship at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. The 103rd PGA Championship is scheduled to be played May 20-23, 2021.
The Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship is presented by Club Car and OMEGA and supported by Titleist / FootJoy, NIKE, and TaylorMade. Supporting partners of the Championship are AT&T Byron Nelson, Golf Channel, and PGA TOUR. The Championship is being conducted at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch (South & North Courses), a 6,924-yard, par 71 layout located in Denton, Texas.
The Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship features 99 PGA Members who are competing for a spot in the 54th PGA Professional Championship and a $26,000 projected purse with the champion taking home $3,000. The leaders will tee off tomorrow at 1:27 p.m.

The Championship will take place Wednesday, May 27, through Friday, May 29, at Grapevine Golf Course. This 46th year of the Championship marks another chapter in the event’s rich history, continuing its tradition as one of the premier women’s tournaments in Texas. Additionally, ANNIKA WAPT members will earn points toward the Callaway Race to Q2, with all earnings counting toward the 2026 ANNIKA WAPT Official Money List. A total of 144 players will compete in a 54-hole stroke play format, with a cut to the low 50 players and ties after 36 holes. New for 2026, players shall gain access to compete in the Championship through qualifying events unless they are otherwise exempt.
