Ishee Takes Home His Second National Car Rental Northern Texas Assistant PGA Professional Championship Trophy

Matthew De Tullio • August 10, 2021

Fort Worth, Texas - Nic Ishee, PGA assistant professional at Preston Trail Golf Club, claimed the 2021 National Car Rental Northern Texas Assistant PGA Professional Championship title hosted at Mira Vista Country Club with scores of 71-70–141, 1-under-par.

This marks his second Assistant Championship win adding to his first victory in 2019. He will take home $900, a record amount for this event.

Ishee finished the one-day, 36-hole Championship with a combined 11 birdies including a stretch of four straight early in the first round.

Ishee said putting really kept him in it all day and was overall the best aspect of his game.

“I put the ball in play,” said Ishee. “But I made a lot of 5,6,7,8 foot putts that were huge and kept me together.”

Ishee will lead two other assistant professionals from the Northern Texas Section to compete in the 45th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship on November 11-14 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The two assistants joining him will be Jarred Jeter, assistant professional at Midland Country Club, and Armando Villarreal, associate head professional at Oeste Ranch Golf Course.

In a tie for second, Jeter and Villarreal finished the event with a 4-over-par total. Jeter finished with rounds of 69-77–146, while Villarreal carded rounds of 70-76–146.

Three alternate spots into the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship were also determined. Travis England, assistant professional at Lantana Golf Club, earned the first alternate spot while Spencer Dillard, PGA assistant professional at Preston Trail Golf Club, took the second and Stetson McMillan, teaching professional at John Sikes Golf Academy, claimed the third.

The National Car Rental Northern Texas Assistant PGA Professional Championship was conducted by the Northern Texas PGA Section and was supported by Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO / ASICS , John Deere and PGA TOUR. A field of 53 assistant professionals competed for a share of the record $7,500 purse and were attempting to qualify for the National Championship.
