Sam Randolph and Vince Jewell Share Senior Division Title

DALLAS, Texas (June 11) – Jarred Jeter, PGA assistant professional at Midland Country Club, won the Prize Possessions | E-Z-GO Eastern Championship by three strokes at Cedar Crest Golf Course. Jeter recorded the lowest score in the last 19 years of the Championship's history by finishing at 12-under-par after rounds of 64-66–130.

Five weeks ago, Jeter was forced to withdraw from THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, an honor which he earned as the Section champion, because of a back injury. “Five weeks ago I couldn't get off the couch. It was that bad,” said Jeter.

Heading into today’s final round, Jeter had a one-stroke lead after a bogey-free first round. That lead was gone by the second hole after an early bogey, but he bounced back with birdies on the 8th, 9th and an eagle on the 10th hole.”I knew 10 was going to be a big hole, and I just got a really good number in my hand and basically hit it to a kick in [for eagle].”

This is Jeter’s second straight NTPGA Individual Stroke Play Major Championship victory dating back to September 2023 when he claimed the Section Championship at Odessa Country Club. He is headed back to Midland Country Club, the site of the next NTPGA Major Championship, with $4,190 for his victory. “I’m looking forward to playing a home game and hopefully getting a third one.”

The Senior Division finished with Co-Champions. Sam Randolph, PGA instructor at Mira Vista Country Club, and Vince Jewell, PGA instructor at Woodbridge Golf Club, each finished the Championship at 3-under-par, 139.

Randolph had the low round of the day in the Senior Division with a 4-under-par, 34-33–67. “Today was more solid. Only one bogey and five birdies. I played pretty good today, so it was fun,” said Randolph.

Jewell carded a 36-33–69, 2-under-par today. “I played steady, hit a lot of greens, hit a lot of fairways,” said Jewell. He accredited his play in part to the multiple practice rounds. “I’ve played here three times in the last three weeks. You play a golf course so many times, and you know where to hit it and where to miss it.”

Both players commented on playing historic Cedar Crest Golf Course this week. “It’s fun to come play here, the Tillinghast design from way back,” said Jewell. “I enjoyed the golf course. The layout is great,” added Randolph.

Both players earned $1,400 of the overall $50,000 purse, a tournament record as well

The Prize Possessions | E-Z-GO Eastern Championship was presented by Branded Bills, GolfStatus, GT Golf Supply Co, Levelwear, Nexbelt, PGA TOUR and THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

The PGA of America announced today that Ronny Glanton, PGA head professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course, will be inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame. Glanton, a native of Mineral Wells, Texas, began his career in 1981 as an Assistant Professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson, Texas. Upon achieving PGA of America membership in 1984, he took over as Head Professional and has been at the Richardson facility ever since. He is the only member to serve twice as President of the NTPGA (2006-07, ‘18-’19). Glanton played a key role in the PGA of America’s relocation to Frisco, Texas. He is a passionate advocate for junior golf, developing impactful programs like the Sherrill Park Learning Center and the Hawks junior golf team, which have introduced thousands of new golfers to the game; his leadership in the creation of “The Ronny” Golf Park on the PGA Frisco campus further expands community outreach and player development. Among his previous awards are PGA of America Golf Professional of the Year (2020), NTPGA Golf Professional of the Year (1999, ‘07, ‘19), NTPGA Bill Strausbaugh Award (2003-05, ‘08, ‘14) and NTPGA Merchandiser of the Year (1994), plus induction into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame in 2022. Glanton actively supports his colleagues, raising over $100,000 through pro-ams for PGA Members facing medical hardships. He’s also been a four-time contestant in the PGA Professional Championship, five-time contestant in the Senior PGA Professional National Championship and seven-time participant in the PGA TOUR Byron Nelson (now the CJ Cup Byron Nelson). Glanton is a three-time NTPGA Major Champion, six-time Senior Division Major Champion and a 17-time member of the NTPGA Joe Black Cup Team, which he has also captained three times. The PGA of America Hall of Fame originated in 1940 at the suggestion of famed sportswriter Grantland Rice. It is the highest honor the PGA of America can bestow upon its membership or ambassadors of the game.
