Round One Play Suspended Due To Darkness. Play to Resume at 7:15 a.m.

DALLAS, Texas (June 10) – Jarred Jeter, PGA assistant professional at Midland Country Club holds a one stroke lead at the Prize Possessions | E-Z-GO Eastern Championship. Jeter shot 7-under-par, 32-32–64 at Cedar Crest Golf Course.

A bogey free round with five birdies and an eagle propelled Jarred Jeter to the top of the leaderboard today. “I really didn’t have many expectations,” said Jeter about heading into the Championship. “I made some putts early, kept the ball in play and was able to find a groove early. That was big.”

Jeter is the reigning Section Champion, but has been battling an injury since the beginning of May after he was forced to withdraw from THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson. “This is the first time that I have been able to actually play and hit shots on the course. I have been working in physical therapy working to get my back to where it needed to be. The doctor didn’t release me to hit drivers until a week before this event.”

Afternoon thunderstorms, causing multiple suspensions of play, led to a total of three hours of delays. Round One play will resume tomorrow morning at 7:15 a.m. and Final Round play will begin at 8:00 a.m. off of the 1st and 10th holes..

The Championship also includes a Senior Division that is made up of 36 professionals ages 50 and over, playing for a separate title and purse. Leading in the Senior Division is Brian Mahon, director of instruction at Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club. Mahon fired a 5-under-par round of 33-33–66. Mahon is chased by five others that are within four strokes.

This 36-hole Northern Texas PGA major championship is the first of four individual stroke play events that comprise the Yamaha Golf-Car Company | Srixon and Nike Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf. The field is competing for a record overall purse of $50,000.

The Prize Possessions | E-Z-GO Championship is presented by Branded Bills, GolfStatus, GT Golf Supplies, Levelwear, Nexbelt, PGA TOUR and THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

The PGA of America announced today that Ronny Glanton, PGA head professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course, will be inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame. Glanton, a native of Mineral Wells, Texas, began his career in 1981 as an Assistant Professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson, Texas. Upon achieving PGA of America membership in 1984, he took over as Head Professional and has been at the Richardson facility ever since. He is the only member to serve twice as President of the NTPGA (2006-07, ‘18-’19). Glanton played a key role in the PGA of America’s relocation to Frisco, Texas. He is a passionate advocate for junior golf, developing impactful programs like the Sherrill Park Learning Center and the Hawks junior golf team, which have introduced thousands of new golfers to the game; his leadership in the creation of “The Ronny” Golf Park on the PGA Frisco campus further expands community outreach and player development. Among his previous awards are PGA of America Golf Professional of the Year (2020), NTPGA Golf Professional of the Year (1999, ‘07, ‘19), NTPGA Bill Strausbaugh Award (2003-05, ‘08, ‘14) and NTPGA Merchandiser of the Year (1994), plus induction into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame in 2022. Glanton actively supports his colleagues, raising over $100,000 through pro-ams for PGA Members facing medical hardships. He’s also been a four-time contestant in the PGA Professional Championship, five-time contestant in the Senior PGA Professional National Championship and seven-time participant in the PGA TOUR Byron Nelson (now the CJ Cup Byron Nelson). Glanton is a three-time NTPGA Major Champion, six-time Senior Division Major Champion and a 17-time member of the NTPGA Joe Black Cup Team, which he has also captained three times. The PGA of America Hall of Fame originated in 1940 at the suggestion of famed sportswriter Grantland Rice. It is the highest honor the PGA of America can bestow upon its membership or ambassadors of the game.
