Nelson Holds Narrow Lead at the Golf Pro Payments Western Championship

Randolph Leads Senior Division by Two

MIDLAND, Texas (July 15) – Dustin Nelson, associate at Cross Timbers Golf Course, leads the Golf Pro Payments Western Championship. The Championship is being conducted at Midland Country Club for the third straight year.


Nelson turned in a bogey free 5-under-par, 34-33–67 and holds a one stroke lead heading into tomorrow’s final round. There are 17 professionals under-par for the Championship and three that are only one stroke back.


Sam Randolph, PGA instructor at Mira Vista Country Club leads the Senior Division that is competing for a separate title and purse. Randolph carded a 5-under-par, 32-35–67 to secure a two stroke lead. With only one bogey on the card today, he is seeking his second win of the year tomorrow. Randolph earned Co-Champion honors at the Prize-Possessions | E-Z-GO Eastern Championship earlier in June.

Brian Norman, PGA instructor at Lakewood Country Club had the second hole-in-one of the year on the Par-3, 8th hole. He hit 8-iron from 174 yards, but did not know he had carded an ace until arriving at the green. It was Norman’s ninth career hole-in-one and his second in an NTPGA Championship.


This 36-hole Northern Texas PGA major championship is the second of four individual stroke play events that comprise the Yamaha Golf-Car Company | Srixon and Nike Player of the Year Points Challenge presented by Adventures In Golf. The field is competing for a record overall purse of $50,000.


The Golf Pro Payments Western Championship is presented by Cobra Puma Golf, Destination Kohler, Glow Vibe Golf, GT Golf Supply Co, Jerry J. Ransom, Midland Country Club, PGA TOUR, THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson and TurfHound.

GRAPEVINE, Texas – Registration is now open for the 2026 Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open and its qualifying events. The Championship will take place Wednesday, May 27, through Friday, May 29, at Grapevine Golf Course. This 46th year of the Championship marks another chapter in the event’s rich history, continuing its tradition as one of the premier women’s tournaments in Texas. The projected overall purse is $80,000. For the third consecutive year, Grapevine Golf Course will serve as host, reinforcing the City of Grapevine’s commitment to supporting and growing women’s golf. Known for its hospitality and spirited community, Grapevine looks forward to building on the success of previous Championships while delivering a first-class experience for players and spectators alike. The 2026 Championship continues its partnership with the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT). Thanks to the support of the ANNIKA WAPT, this Championship allows the top two finishers to receive exemptions into the Epson Tour’s Island Resort Championship, June 22–28 in Harris, Michigan. Additionally, ANNIKA WAPT members will earn points toward the Callaway Race to Q2, with all earnings counting toward the 2026 ANNIKA WAPT Official Money List. A total of 144 players will compete in a 54-hole stroke play format, with a cut to the low 50 players and ties after 36 holes. New for 2026, players shall gain access to compete in the Championship through qualifying events unless they are otherwise exempt.
