On the heels of Giving Tuesday, the Northern Texas PGA is pleased to announce that PGA TOUR Rookie Scottie Scheffler presented a $50,000 donation to the Northern Texas PGA Foundation earlier this week.
During the Ewing Charity Classic held Monday, December 2 at Trinity Forest Golf Club, Scheffler, an NTPGA Junior Tour Member from 2002-2010, made the announcement that $50,000 of the $300,000 he won through RSM Birdies Fore Love program he is donating to the NTPGA Foundation. Because of his growth and development on the NTPGA Junior Tour he has asked that the donation be directed toward the Foundation’s junior golf pillar.
“Playing on the NTPGA Junior Tour was a learning curve for me. It is basically where I learned how to play golf. You know playing since I was probably six or seven years old starting in the 9 hole tournaments and eventually making it all the way to the Legends Tour, it really kind of shaped me as a golfer when I was pretty young,” said Scheffler in an interview with the Northern Texas PGA earlier this summer.
Scheffler earned Rookie of the Year honors as well as Player of the Year honors earlier this year after an impressive season on the Korn Ferry Tour. Winning two tournaments and finishing ten times in the Top Ten on the Korn Ferry Tour last season, his great play earned him his PGA TOUR card for the 2019-2020 season.
“We are humbled and honored that Scottie selected our Foundation to make a contribution to,” said Mark Harrison, Executive Director and CEO of the Northern Texas PGA. “It was a treat getting to watch him learn and grow through our programs, and to now see him fulfilling a life-long dream of competing on the PGA TOUR is amazing. But, we are truly privileged that he wants to continue to make an impact on the lives of junior golfers in North Texas alongside us.”
