Sikes Occupies Lead After Round One of the Club Car Northern Texas Senior PGA Professional Championship

Dallas, Texas – John Sikes, PGA director of golf at Hollytree Country Club, sits in the top spot after Round One of the Club Car Northern Texas Senior PGA Professional Championship. Sikes fired a solid 2-under-par 69 carding an eagle and four birdies, to open the Championship. Three players, Tom Strueber, PGA Life Member, Jim Henderson, PGA director of golf at Stevens Park Golf Course, and defending champion Cameron Doan, PGA head professional at Preston Trail Golf Club, sit two shots back of Sikes at even par 71.

Qualifying for the 31st Senior PGA Professional National Championship is being held in conjunction with the Club Car Northern Texas Senior PGA Professional Championship. Thirty-four players of the 46-man field are attempting to qualify this week. ­The top five players, plus the champion if registered for the qualifier, will represent the NTPGA at the National Championship, presented by Cadillac and supported by Golf Channel and John Deere, at Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa in Austin, Texas, from October 3-6. Sikes is attempting to qualify and currently shares the lead with Britt Patton, PGA director of golf at Vaquero Club. Patton, who is currently 49, is only eligible to qualify for the Senior PGA Professional National Championship. He is not eligible to win the Club Car Northern Texas Senior PGA Professional Championship because of the age requirement.


The Senior PGA Professional Championship brings together a field of 264 contestants representing the PGA of America’s 41 nationwide Sections, and features a total purse of $300,000. The first two rounds will be conducted on the Foothills and Coore Crenshaw Courses. The first cut will be made after 36 holes of play to the low 90 scorers and ties. The second cut will be made after 54 holes of play to the low 70 scorers and ties. The final two rounds will be played on the Foothills Course.

The 2019 Club Car Northern Texas Senior PGA Professional Championship, presented by Cadillac and supported by The Golf Channel and John Deere, is a 36-hole stroke play event being contested at Lakewood Country Club, a 6,742-yard, par 71 layout located in Dallas, Texas. GRAPEVINE, Texas – Registration is now open for the 2026 Destination Grapevine Texas Women’s Open and its qualifying events. The Championship will take place Wednesday, May 27, through Friday, May 29, at Grapevine Golf Course. This 46th year of the Championship marks another chapter in the event’s rich history, continuing its tradition as one of the premier women’s tournaments in Texas. The projected overall purse is $80,000. The 2026 Championship continues its partnership with the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT). Thanks to the support of the ANNIKA WAPT, this Championship allows the top two finishers to receive exemptions into the Epson Tour’s Island Resort Championship, June 22–28 in Harris, Michigan. Additionally, ANNIKA WAPT members will earn points toward the Callaway Race to Q2, with all earnings counting toward the 2026 ANNIKA WAPT Official Money List. A total of 144 players will compete in a 54-hole stroke play format, with a cut to the low 50 players and ties after 36 holes. New for 2026, players shall gain access to compete in the Championship through qualifying events unless they are otherwise exempt.
